Handmade Jingdezhen Blue & White Porcelain Gaiwan - Phoenix Kiln
A Traditional Gaiwan, Shaped by Fire Handmade in Jingdezhen from natural clay, this blue and white porcelain gaiwan is a simple expression of one of China's most enduring tea vessels.
A gaiwan is a traditional lidded tea bowl used to brew and drink tea. Its open form gives you a direct connection with the leaves, water and aroma, while the lid allows you to control the pour.
The blue and white decoration is finished before the piece enters the kiln. Under intense heat, the glaze melts and transforms, giving the surface its smooth texture and natural luster.
Small variations in color, texture and glaze are part of the firing process. Each piece carries its own subtle character from the kiln.
This gaiwan was marn and fired at the Phoenix Kiln in Jing.
