I wasn't looking for a ceramic studio that day.
I was looking for a coffee shop.
Somewhere in the countryside around Jingdezhen, I found a small café run by a couple.
One makes coffee and Western food.
The other works with clay.
What surprised me was how naturally the two worlds existed together.
One side of the space is a café and kitchen.
The other is a small ceramic workspace.
From Clay to Coffee Cup
The pieces were fired in a gas kiln.
And 
At first glance, these cups might look simple.
But after seeing how they were made, l started looking at them differently.
Not every piece comes out exactly as planned.
This is one of the reasons I started looking more closely at contemporary ceramics in Jingdezhen.
I don't make these pieces myself.
I visit the people who do.
