Opening the Phoenix Wood-Fired Kiln After a Sleepless Night | 1300°C Results from Jingdezhen
After staying up all night guarding the kiln, the most exciting and nervous moment finally arrived - opening the Phoenix Wood-Fired Kiln.
You wait for the temperature to drop, carefully remove the bricks one by one, and then... you see the result. Sometimes you get stunning pieces with natural kiln transformations. Sometimes the fire is cruel and things crack. That's the reality of real wood-fired pottery at 1300°C. There are no guarantees, only patience and hope.
This time, I was lucky. A few pieces came out beautifully - especially the red fish patterns that look like they're swimming in the glaze.
These are the kind of unique results you can only get from traditional Phoenix Wood-Fired Kiln in Jingdezhen.
Here's the actual moment we opened the
kiln:

Watching the pieces come out still warm from the fire, I felt both exhausted and incredibly satisfied. This is why I love Phoenix Kiln work. It's not perfect, it's not fast, and it's definitely not mass-produced.
Every surviving cup or bowl carries the memory of that long night - the smoke, the heat, the uncertainty, and the fire.
If you've been following my process from guarding the kiln to this opening, thank you.
These aren't just ceramics. They are real Jingdezhen wood-fired porcelain with soul.
